Group Swim Lessons





Watertots 1- Developed for children 6 to 18 months of age. This class builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including water entry, bubble blowing, front kicking, back floating, underwater exploration and more.

Watertots 2- Developed for children 18 month to 3 years of age. This class builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Parents and children participate in several guided practice sessions that help children learn elementary skills, including water entry and exit, bubble blowing, front floating and kicking, back floating, beginner arm strokes, underwater exploration and more.

Pre-school 1- Developed for children 3 to 5 years of age. Purpose: Helps students feel comfortable in the water.

Skills Learned: Enter and exit water safely; exhale underwater through mouth and nose; change direction while walking or paddling; explore floating on front & back with support; use a life jacket; submerge mouth, nose and eyes; open eyes underwater and pick up submerged object; roll over from front to back and back to front, with support; explore swimming on front and back using arm and leg actions, with support.

Pre-school 2- Developed for children 3 to 5 years of age. Purpose: Gives students success with fundamental skills.

Skills Learned: enter water by stepping or jumping from side; exit water safely by using ladder or side; submerge entire head; blow bubbles submerging head in a rhythmic pattern (bobbing); open eyes under water and pick up object; float on front and back; perform front and back glide; change direction of travel paddling on front or back; roll over from front to back, back to front; tread water using arm and leg motions (chest deep); move in water while wearing a life jacket

Pre-school 3- Developed for children 4 to 5 years of age. Purpose: Build on skills in Preschool @ by providing additional guided practice.

Skills Learned: submerge and retrieve object; front and back glide; front and back crawl; rotary breathing in horizontal position; change positions front and back; bob with head fully submerged; swim on own without support; tread water using arm and leg motions; float on front and back in deep water.


Adult Beginner- Helps adults conquer their fear of the water and acquire basic swimming skills. Patient instruction encourages the basic swimming skills. A great first time experience.

Adult Advance- Refines crawl and back stroke, introduces elementary backstroke, sidestroke, and breaststroke. Great for the swimmer who would like to become more proficient with their strokes.


Lesson Notes

Refund Policy: Class fees will be refunded only in the following cases a) you cancel 5 days prior to the start of the class. b) the class is cancelled.
Make up policy: Every effort should be made to attend classes, since no make up or substitute classes are available.

*Time of classes ranges from 30 minutes for Watertots, 34-45 min. for other levels, unless otherwise noted.
*Disposable diapers are not allowed in the pool. Cloth diapers with rubber pants or a "swim diaper" are suggested.
*Parents/Guardians are required to stay in fitness center/pool area during all swim lessons


American Red Cross

Learn-to-Swim Program - Our new Learn-to-Swim offers something for everybody. A unique six-level instructional approach is unlike anything offered by other aquatic training programs. Plus, our instructors are trained and certified by the American Red Cross, so swimmers of all ages and abilities are in very capable hands. The prerequisite for each level is the successful demonstration of the skills from the preceding level, except for Level 1. The only prerequisite for Level 1 is that the student must be at least 5 years of age. Each level of Learn-to-Swim includes training in basic water safety and helping others in emergency, in addition to the skills outlined below

Level 1 - Introduction to Water Skills- Purpose: Helps students feel comfortable in the water. Level 1 participants learn to: enter and exit water safely; exhale underwater through mouth and nose; change direction while walking or paddling; explore floating on front & back with support; use a life jacket; submerge mouth, nose and eyes; open eyes underwater and pick up submerged object; roll over from front to back and back to front, with support; explore swimming on front and back using arm and leg actions, with support

Level 2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills- Purpose: Gives students success with fundamental skills. Level 3 - Stroke Development- Purpose: Builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice. Level 3 participants learn to: jump into deep water from the side; dive from kneeling or standing position; submerge and retrieve object in chest-deep water; front and back glide using two different kicks; perform front and back crawl; rotary breathing in horizontal position; change positions front and back; bob with head fully submerged; swim on own without support; tread water using arm and leg movements; float on front and back in deep water; change from horizontal position to vertical position on front and back; butterfly - kick and body motion; perform the HELP and Huddle position

Level 4 - Stroke Improvement- Purpose: Develops confidence in the skilss learned and improves other aquatic skills. Level 4 participants learn to: perform a dive from a standing or stride position; swim underwater; perform fee-first surface dive; perform open turns on front and back; tread water with sculling arm motions/different kicks; swim on side using scissors kick; perform compact jump from a height wearing a life jacket; perform the following - front and back crawl, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Elementary backstroke

Level 5 - Stroke Refinement- Purpose: Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes Perform the following - standing dive; tuck surface dive; front flip turn; front and back crawl; Breaststroke; Sidestroke; shallow dive, glide two body lengths and begin front stroke; pike surface dive; backstroke flip turn; Butterfly; elementary backstroke; tread water with two diferent kicks; learn survivial swimming

Level 6 - Stroke Swimming and Skill Proficiency- Purpose: Refines the strokes so students swim with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 is designed with "menu" options with each focusing on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses, including Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training course. These options include:

Personal Water Safety: endurance skills; turns; review skills & safety information; new skills & safety information

Lifeguard Readiness: endurance skills; turns; review skills & safety information; new skills & safety information

Fitness Swimmer: endurance skills; turns; new fitness skills techniques & fitness information;

Private lessons can be arranged for any skill level, by appointment. These one-on-one, 30 minute lessons allow us to focus on the individual's particular needs, at a time convenient for you. Private lessons are good for one year from the date of purchase.

A Semi-Private swim lesson is a private lesson for 2 or 3 students of the same swimming ability and /or level. The lesson will focus on the individuals particular needs. These lessons are 30 minutes in length Cancellation of private or semi private lessons requires 24 hour advance notice; After 24 hour you will be charged a private or semi private lesson fee.


Special Needs
In addition to Red Cross Swim Lessons, we offer small group lessons and private swim lessons for students with special needs. The lessons are taught by staff members that are certified in Special Education and have a combined experience of 20 years working with student with special needs. The certified instructors have experience working with children with physical, academic, and emotional needs. Below is a list of some of the needs with which we have previously worked:
